Ever convinced yourself you’re not at all nervous for that job interview? Or worse, told yourself you are. Remember how you felt? Either powerful or powerless, right? Such forceful stuff! You follow your thought's lead like a shadow that can't be shaken off. Even if it's hurtful. It can be horrendous. But genius too! Because you started this chain reaction, so you can also put a stop to it. Let's boost your self-worth and give your wicked thoughts some helpful things to talk about, shall we?
You’re in the middle of a chain reaction
One thought will lead to a chain of reactions. If your thoughts take the lead by saying ‘Go for it, you can do this!’, your feelings and body will follow like a big wave of positive energy. Wonderful!
That is, only if it’s a healthy and loving lead.
If it’s your wicked mastermind speaking: ‘No one in my family has ever really had a career, so why stick my neck out applying for this job?’. Or maybe you don't feel like building a career, but you think you have to, because everyone in your family has. Listening to the wrong instructions will get you stuck in a negative spiral. You’ll go absolutely nowhere you really want to be.
Dearest you, when you desire to boost your self-worth, change is necessary.
Allow me to explain further…
You're a master at deciding - so changing shouldn't be that difficult, right?
Telling yourself you are NOT cut out for that job is a decision you - and you alone - make. What beautiful superpowers you have there, you’re already a master at deciding and persuading!
Unfortunately you’re using your superpowers to persuade yourself you’re not worth it.
Luckily your thoughts are 100% created by YOU. So why don't you use your Persuading Superpowers to convince yourself you ARE worth it? Start focussing only on positive and helpful thoughts! And be the best coach you ever had.
Your brain will comply
Your brain will follow the instructions your thoughts give it. And immediately accept it as the truth. It’s just simple like that. Even if your given instructions are based on untrue assumptions.
So if your thoughts say you’re not cut out for that job, you’ll regard it as true. Of course, you’ll get nervous at the job interview!
Dust yourself off and think again
Let's say you’re in a cold relationship – and the thought of leaving never crossed your mind, because your mind tells you, you don't deserve love. Blimey! You are keeping yourself from living a happy life. Or your job is giving you too much stress because you can't seem to keep up with the corporate targets. You feel you're failing and think you're not good enough. These limiting thoughts instruct your brain that this is how it is and always will be.
Let me tell you...it is not! Please. Dearest you. Be kind to yourself. You are worth it! The moment you start believing that is the moment you will start acting on it.
So dust yourself off and think again. Explore all your unhelpful thoughts. Break the spell. Get out of the hypnosis you got yourself in.
Are the voices in your head self-defeating and keeping you down? Do they cause emotions like fear, shame or guilt? If so, try to find the supportive words that match the fact that You Are Absolutely Wonderful. Because you are!
Which wolf are you gonna feed?
Because you are in charge of your own life, you have the power to change your thoughts.
So take a wise pick out of these two options:
- Willingly instruct your brain with self-defeating thoughts. Or…
- ONLY have helpful thoughts. I mean…why not??? Positivity is bliss!
Like the old Cherokee who’s teaching his grandson about life:
“A terrible fight is going on inside me. Between two wolves.
One is evil – filled with anger, envy, sorrow, guilt, shame and self-pity.
The other is good – full of joy, peace, love, truth, kindness, empathy and compassion.”
The child asks his grandfather: “Which wolf wins?”
“The one you feed”, the old Cherokee replied.
It really is that simple. Which wolf are you gonna feed?
The best medicine for a healthy self-worth
The best medicine is HELPFUL THINKING. To take empowering actions you need to have helpful thoughts.
- So. You aren’t a nervous person. You are strong and self-confident!
- It’s your wicked thoughts that make you ‘be nervous’ - You are worthy of all the love in the world!
- It’s just your thoughts that make you believe that you don’t deserve it - You have the power to break free from your horrible job.
- It’s only your mind that makes you believe horrible things will happen once you do.
